Lima, May 2025.– Committed to ethical and responsible management of the environment and its communities, the fishing company Austral Group presented its 2024 Sustainability Report, which details its management and achievements for that year.

The report – prepared under the demanding standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) – demonstrates its sustainable management in terms of corporate governance, human rights, occupational health and safety, as well as its commitment to high environmental standards, the empowerment of its value chain (suppliers), and social management.

In terms of health and nutrition, in 2024, Austral Group contributed to the National Fisheries Society's Armada de Hierro program, which aims to eradicate anemia in children under 3 years of age through screening, nutritional monitoring, and donations of fresh fish to grassroots organizations and vulnerable populations.

Adriana Giudice, general manager of Austral Group, stated that, “In 2024, we continued with the Your Future program, through which more than 100 young people received training scholarships and support for job placement. We also supported the formalization of artisanal fishermen and workers in the Coishco and Callao bays, so they can obtain their licenses from the National Directorate of Captaincies and Coast Guard,” she noted.

In environmental terms, the Net Positiva program reclaimed nearly 207,000 tons of fishing nets, generating emissions savings of 256,520 kg of CO2e. The Eco-School project was also developed and the Uayki digital library was implemented at the Eduardo Ferrick Elementary School in Coishco (Áncash).

“2024 marked the beginning of the recovery from the 2023 fishing crisis. But, beyond the positive operational results, it was a year in which we reinforced our long-term vision, generating a tangible positive impact in the communities where we operate,” Giudice emphasized, after highlighting the excellent state of anchovy biomass, which, according to IMARPE's 2025 summer cruise, stands at 10 million tons.

Recognition of sustainable management

Finally, the executive emphasized that the company is proud to have been recognized as the first fishing company to earn four stars from the Peruvian Carbon Footprint platform, promoted by the Ministry of the Environment (MINAM).

Finally, he mentioned that, in 2024, Austral Group became the first fishing company in Latin America to certify our Sustainable Procurement model based on the ISO 20400 Standard. This certification, granted by AENOR, reaffirms its commitment to its value chain and the incorporation of ESG criteria into its purchasing processes.
