Tu Futuro (“Your Future”) Program

The Tu Futuro program aims to provide training and employment opportunities for young people who are neither in employment nor in education or training (NEET). It is developed in collaboration with the Forge Foundation. In each program edition, Austral collaborates by providing scholarships for young people residing in the ports where we operate. The program includes 3 phases, such as call and selection, soft and technical skills training, and job placement support. To date, more than 250 scholarships have been awarded, contributing to the development of young individuals and achieving the formal job placement of 56, despite the country’s economic challenges stemming from the pandemic and the economic crisis.

net positiva

Net Positiva

We recover our disused fishing nets through the Net Positiva program, in partnership with the social enterprise Bureo, where, through an innovative recycling process, our nets are transformed into raw materials for the production of new products.
Furthermore, this program generates a fund for the implementation of socio-environmental projects benefiting the community. Projects include “Fresh Water”, which provides purified water from the air to communities with limited access to water, and the implementation of the first artificial wetland within a school that allows reusing domestic water for the expansion of green areas.

armada de hierro

Armada de Hierro (“Iron Navy”)

Armada de Hierro is an initiative promoted by the National Fisheries Society, which aims to help to reduce anemia rates in children under 3 years of age. At Austral, we carry out this initiative with community members in our area of influence and with the sons and daughters of our employees and workers.
Both groups participate in screening days, where children are evaluated based on their hemoglobin levels. The identified anemia cases receive 6 months of nutritional follow-up, including medical consultations, demonstrative cooking workshops, and talks for parents, with the aim of reversing their initial anemia diagnosis.
