Austral Group becomes the first Peruvian company to validate their marine ingredients through the GFLI branded data methodology, a global environmental benchmark for feed production industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lima, May 2026.-<\/strong> Peruvian marine ingredients, such as fishmeal and fish oil, have reached a new sustainability milestone. Austral Group has become the first Peruvian producer to register the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of its fishmeal and fish oil as Branded Data in the database<\/em> of the Global Feed LCA Institute (GFLI), an international platform that compiles environmental information on inputs used in the production of animal feed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This registration in GFLI enables these Peruvian marine products to be supported by accurate, verifiable and globally comparable environmental information. As a result, customers, feed producers and companies linked to aquaculture can access primary, representative data, rather than relying on sector-average values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As producers of fishmeal and fish oil, we are pioneers in contributing primary, verifiable and globally comparable data, reinforcing our commitment to an increasingly sustainable, efficient and competitive fishing industry,\u201d said Adriana Giudice, CEO of Austral Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Austral Group\u2019s inclusion in the GFLI database is based on a Life Cycle Assessment conducted by the Peruvian Life Cycle and Industrial Ecology Network, PELCAN, with the support of Austral Group. This study updates the scientific information available on these marine ingredients and complies with GFLI\u2019s rigorous methodology and review process, which is based on international standards like FAO-LEAP, PEFCR Feed, ISO-14040 and 14044.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike other databases that use secondary information or market averages, Branded Data in the database<\/em> Branded Data provides access to product-specific data. In Austral Group\u2019s case, the published information comes mainly from primary data and underwent both GFLI\u2019s internal review process and an external third-party review, strengthening the reliability and transparency of the results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The results of the Life Cycle Assessment highlight several factors that help explain the environmental performance of these products, including the prioritization of natural gas use, the appropriate management of anchoveta biomass, and the efficiency of the Peruvian fishing fleet in terms of fuel consumption and fishing effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this achievement, Austral Group strengthens Peru\u2019s position as a supplier of sustainable marine ingredients, supported by reliable, verifiable and comparable environmental information, at a time when international markets increasingly demand greater traceability, transparency and technical evidence regarding the impact of the products that make up their value chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
